Summary and results of the Qatar GP Sprint race in F1: Piastri pulls away with ease, Verstappen struggles

The Sprint Race of the Formula 1 Qatar Grand Prix wrapped up without major incidents, with the leading cars in the title fight completing the event without any issues. After spending several laps within DRS range of Lando Norris, Max Verstappen, the four-time world champion, eventually had to give in to the dominant pace of the McLaren driver. Below is the full summary and complete results of the F1 Qatar GP Sprint race.

Lap 1–10

The Sprint got underway smoothly, with no contact at the start between the drivers. Max Verstappen launched extremely well and, helped also by Yuki Tsunoda, immediately gained two positions, placing himself right on the tail of Norris. Ferrari faced significant problems during the opening laps: Charles Leclerc slipped back several places, while Lewis Hamilton was unable to make any progress.

Although Max Verstappen remained constantly within DRS range of Norris, he was unable to mount a real attack. The Dutch driver repeatedly complained about severe bouncing affecting his Red Bull.

Further down the order, the Sprint remained rather dull, with no overtakes in the early phase. Charles Leclerc attempted to battle Oliver Bearman for P12.

Lap 11–19

The second part of the race continued in a very calm manner, with the drivers running spaced out and with little opportunity to attack. Even in the midfield, the situation remained stable. From P12 down to P18, a DRS train formed, but none of the drivers managed to launch a proper overtaking attempt.

It was an anonymous race for both Ferrari drivers, who were unable to find the pace needed to improve their starting positions.

Track limits warnings began to appear, and the first driver to receive a penalty was Yuki Tsunoda, who had to serve the standard 5-second time penalty. Lance Stroll opted for a pit stop on lap 13 to switch to soft tyres, most likely to gather information ahead of Sunday’s Grand Prix.
