Pirelli on a mission for spectacle: more varied strategies in Miami?
As in Jeddah, Pirelli has decided to go one step softer in the range, offering teams the C3, C4, and C5 compounds. These tyres could nonetheless be severely tested by the temperatures expected during the Miami weekend. In fact, during last year’s edition, the track surface reached over 55°C. After being resurfaced in 2023, the organizers have worked on certain areas of the track by laying down a new layer of bitumen. These changes have helped smooth out the bumps in the stretch after Turn 8. This will allow the cars to run even lower and be faster.
By going one step softer, teams will have to fine-tune their setups to avoid excessive tyre degradation. Compared to 2024, when the C2, C3, and C4 had a narrow performance window, this year things might change, especially with qualifying in mind. Over long runs—bearing in mind there is also a Sprint—teams are more likely to face a race with two pit stops.
