Carlos Sainz doesn’t hide a tinge of melancholy about his imminent departure from Ferrari, fully aware that the 2025 season could see a very strong Prancing Horse. Racing for a team for an entire year knowing that the partnership will end at the season’s conclusion hasn’t been easy for Carlos Sainz, who is set to leave Ferrari in 2025. This is especially true now that, in recent outings, the team has shown significant progress in performance.
Despite all the difficulties faced during the season, the Maranello team has achieved some memorable victories. Not only that, but they are holding their own against McLaren in the Constructors’ Championship, sitting just 36 points behind the leaders in a title race that still holds potential surprises.
Everyone at Ferrari knows this, and so does Carlos Sainz. In Las Vegas, the Spaniard will race his third-to-last Grand Prix with the team that has been his home for the past four seasons. A sense of melancholy is becoming increasingly apparent in the words and statements of car number 55.
Carlos Sainz prepares for Williams, but…
“We are working in the right direction. The weaknesses we had mid-season have been addressed. The issues in qualifying have been solved. And again, the strategic mistakes from two years ago have been resolved, as well as the excessive bouncing. In short, many things have been fixed,” Carlos Sainz explains.
“There are things that are working well, and the team is working well together, which makes me very proud. This shows that, at the moment, we are a very solid team. This makes me happy, even though I’m leaving, because I’ve been able to contribute. But at the same time, I won’t deny that I’m also sad because next year might be the right year for Ferrari, and I won’t be here.”
Carlos Sainz’s regret is becoming increasingly evident. However, the Spaniard still has three races left and a dream that, until a few weeks ago, seemed out of reach: bringing the Constructors’ Championship back to Maranello this year, after 16 long years.
