2024 Registration Fees, the FIA Goes to Collect
Dear dominance, how much do you cost me? Red Bull opens its wallet and will pay a whopping 7.4 million dollars to the International Federation to register for the 2024 World Championship. This amount is higher by 1.2 million than the one paid for the 2023 registration, perhaps due to inflation or the 101 additional points accumulated this season compared to 2022 (as a fixed fee and a proportionate fee based on championship points).
2024 fees (figures in dollars)
Red Bull: 7,445,816
Mercedes: 3,347,012
Ferrari: 3,327,288
McLaren: 2,643,747
Aston Martin: 2,498,836
Alpine: 1,446,838
Williams: 841,937
AlfaTauri: 822,214
Alfa Romeo: 763,035
Haas: 736,737
According to calculations reported by Speedweek, the Milton Keynes-based team will pay the FIA an amount even higher than what Ferrari and Mercedes combined will pay. These last two, nearly tied in the constructors’ standings, will pay 3.3 million dollars. Ferrari “saves” a bit more (about 20,000 dollars), having missed the opportunity in Abu Dhabi to secure second place in the Constructors’ Championship.
Very close, just like in the Constructors’ Championship, are McLaren and Aston Martin, with the Woking team paying 2.6 million compared to the 2.5 million from Lawrence Stroll’s team. At the bottom of the list is Haas: just over 700,000 dollars. For 2024, all ten teams will pay a base fee of 657,837 dollars. According to this year’s calculation, the reigning champions pay 7,843 dollars per point, while the other nine pay 6,575 dollars per point. The bills must be settled by December 10 and will bring 23 million dollars into the coffers of the International Federation. Compared to 2022, Red Bull will pay 1.2 million more, while Ferrari, thanks to 148 fewer points, will save about 700,000 euros.
