2024 F1 Spanish GP weather forecast: after Canada chaos, will sun return in Barcelona?. Updated weather forecast for 2024 F1 Spanish GP .

As the Formula 1 circuit returns to Spain for the 2024 Spanish Grand Prix, teams and fans alike are keenly eyeing the weather forecasts for the race weekend. Set against the backdrop of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, this event promises not just high-speed action but also strategic battles influenced heavily by the local climate.

Located in Montmeló, just outside the vibrant city of Barcelona, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is renowned for its challenging layout. Featuring a mix of high-speed straights and tight corners, the 4.657-kilometre track demands excellence in both car setup and driver skill. With 66 laps on race day, the circuit tests the endurance of the cars and the tactical acumen of the teams, making it a staple in the F1 calendar since its debut in 1991.

Weather plays a pivotal role in the dynamics of a Formula 1 race. From tire selection and fuel management to aerodynamic settings and driving styles, every aspect of the team’s approach can be influenced by weather conditions. Sunny days may call for softer tire compounds, while rain can turn a race on its head, prompting teams to switch to intermediates or wet tires and adjust their strategies accordingly.

Late June in Barcelona generally sees the onset of the Mediterranean summer with long, sunny days. Temperatures around this time average between 20°C and 28°C (68°F to 82°F), creating ideal conditions for beachgoers and tourists. However, for the F1 world, these temperatures mean managing tire degradation due to increased track temperatures, which can exceed 50°C (122°F).

In the tenth race of the 2024 season, Formula 1 takes to the track in Barcelona, and for this reason, we went to check the weather forecast for the Spanish GP weekend.

The Montreal weekend left many doubts for Scuderia Ferrari. After the stunning success in Monaco, the Maranello team struggled significantly on the Gilles Villeneuve circuit. The SF-24 had difficulties both in qualifying and the race, with the double retirement being a hard blow also in terms of the standings.

Within Ferrari, however, there doesn’t seem to be particular concern. According to Carlos Sainz, Montreal was simply a setback, but in Barcelona, the SF-24 should return to being competitive as in previous weekends.
