Not just three protagonists of today’s Formula 1 – Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen, and Lewis Hamilton – but also a tribute to Ayrton Senna on the thirtieth anniversary of the Brazilian champion’s passing. All of this is encapsulated in the official poster of the Formula 1 Msc Cruises Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix 2024, scheduled from May 17 to 19 at the ‘Enzo e Dino Ferrari’ racetrack in Imola.
The Italian Flag
Against the backdrop of the image – characterized by the tricolor of the Italian flag – are the ‘hill of passion’, populated with fans and flags, where the prancing horse, the symbol of Ferrari, and the racetrack tower, a historic symbol of the sporting facility, stand out.
Red Bull Dominance
In the foreground, however, are photos of Leclerc, in his sixth season with Ferrari, three-time world champion Verstappen, who has won the last two editions of the race with Red Bull, and seven-time champion Hamilton, who will race for the Maranello team starting in 2025.
Tribute to Ayrton Senna
Their figures, accompanied by their respective race cars, are drawn to the right of the track’s perimeter. And specifically in the circuit design, particularly in the segment that leads from Tosa to Piratella, are sketched the green, gold, and blue of the Brazilian flag that appeared on Senna’s helmet, who tragically lost his life on the Imola track on May 1, 1994.
Angelo Sticchi Damiani, the president of the Automobile Club Italy, expressed satisfaction, convinced that “it will be a beautiful grand prix,” while Stefano Bonaccini, the president of the region, emphasizes “the special meaning” of this year’s edition, “after the cancellation of the competition last year due to the flood.”
