The most voted
For several years now, Formula 1 has introduced the ‘Driver of the Day’ award, which honors the driver most appreciated by fans following an online vote opened during the final phase of each Grand Prix. In 2024, Lando Norris dominated this special ranking. Finishing second in the Drivers’ Championship, Norris played a pivotal role in McLaren’s Constructors’ title and finally broke through in terms of Grand Prix victories. However, he also faced criticism for his less-than-perfect handling of the championship battle with Max Verstappen.
Ferrari drivers, present and future, on the podium
Despite some missteps, Lando Norris collected an impressive seven ‘Driver of the Day’ awards, more than anyone else on the grid. Verstappen managed just one, earning it after his remarkable comeback victory at the Brazilian GP. Behind Lando Norris was Charles Leclerc, who was voted Driver of the Day in five races this year: his wins in Monaco, Monza, and Austin, as well as the Japanese and Abu Dhabi GPs. Sharing the third step of the podium were Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz, each with three awards.
A ‘consolation’ for Daniel Ricciardo and Zhou Guanyu
Interestingly, Daniel Ricciardo and Zhou Guanyu each claimed a single Driver of the Day award. Daniel Ricciardo was celebrated by fans after the Singapore GP, his last race before being sidelined, while Zhou Guanyu was recognized in Qatar for his eighth-place finish, the only points-scoring result of the season for Sauber.
