According to what was reported by David Croft, commentator and pundit for Sky Sports F1, a driver would have revealed to him the first details about the 2024 F1 car hierarchies.
Speaking on the stage of the Autosport International Show in Birmingham, the commentator conducted an assessment of the past season.
Looking ahead to 2024, he talked about the hopes of other teams trying to dethrone Max Verstappen and Red Bull, letting slip that he heard a driver worried about the speed of the upcoming car.
David Croft’s comments
David Croft expressed his thoughts on the on-track values for the next year: “My real hope for this year is to have a Mercedes that is on par with Red Bull. I don’t know how things are going behind the scenes, but Esteban Ocon told me that Alpine will be a bit slow, he told me before Christmas, but I don’t know who is really in better shape than the others,” revealed the British commentator.
“I think this year Red Bull will obviously be in good shape because they will refine what was already fantastic last year. Then there’s Ferrari, which will have a car 95% different from that of 2023. So only the sky knows what the Scuderia has in store for us.” – he pointed out. – “Then there’s Aston Martin, which has to make up for what went wrong in the middle of last season and go back to the starting point.” – he continued.

“Finally, we have McLaren, their growth has been incredible. They were at the bottom of the championship after three races, and in the end, Lando and Oscar were the closest to Max, really fantastic,” concluded David Croft.
