Let’s discover the starting grid of the Bahrain GP 2024: Verstappen is the poleman, Leclerc follows.
With the starting grid, the Bahrain GP 2024 can officially begin. The inaugural race of the Formula 1 season will reserve many surprises, judging by the qualifications we have just witnessed.
Recall that the Grand Prix will take place on Saturday this year, as will the next one in Saudi Arabia, for the reasons explained in this article.
Let’s find out what happened, session by session, in this first qualifying session of the 2024 Formula 1 championship. The first two sessions did not offer excessive twists. Perhaps the most unexpected is to see both VCRB cars out in Q2; however, Tsunoda positioned himself ahead of Daniel Ricciardo, so the Japanese can at least smile.
Deciding the first poleman of the season is a feat. Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, and Carlos Sainz seem to be in the running. Until the last moment. The Mercedes, especially Russell’s, seems to be struggling a bit more. Hamilton also struggles a bit but manages to outperform his teammate.
Q3 is very tight. Verstappen seems to secure pole position with a monstrous time, but Charles Leclerc is there, just a few thousandths behind. Disappointment for Fernando Alonso, who stops in sixth position. Even more disappointed is Lewis Hamilton: only ninth, despite George Russell doing better and placing it in third position.
The pole position goes to Max Verstappen! The Red Bull driver is first with a time of 1:29:179. Leclerc follows with +0.228.
