Unlike Scuderia Ferrari, Mercedes does not want to postpone the updates initially planned for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, which was supposed to take place last weekend at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, commonly known as Imola: the engineers in Brackley are convinced that the new package will bring something extra despite having only three sessions available to study it and will therefore introduce it this weekend for the Monaco Grand Prix on the streets of Monte Carlo.
The risks are not few, and it will be up to the drivers to quickly adapt to the car’s new behavior in time for Saturday’s Qualifying, in a weekend that does not seem to be among the best of the year for George Russell and Lewis Hamilton unless there are big surprises.
Alfa Romeo finds itself in a similar situation: after a promising Bahrain Grand Prix, the C43 faltered and lost ground compared to its rivals. The Hinwil team will bring the package of updates, initially planned for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, to the Monaco Grand Prix to maximize the chances of returning to the points zone.
The other team that had planned a significant update for the Imola circuit was AlphaTauri: a new floor was supposed to debut on the AT04 last week, but there are no official news yet on the intentions of the Faenza team. On the other hand, we can expect that most of the cars will feature high-downforce wings that we have not had the opportunity to see so far in the 2023 Formula One season: it will be important to understand how the cars, especially the Ferrari SF-23 single-seater, will work with such a rear load and whether this will generate any setup issues for the engineers. As was expected, the Maranello team has decided to postpone its next major update for the next round of the championship, the Spanish Grand Prix, which is set to take place next week at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.

Speaking of purely aesthetic updates, McLaren unveiled a special livery a few days ago in order to celebrate the 60 years of the British team, called the “Triple Crown livery.” Williams will also race with a special livery in collaboration with Gulf: on Friday, we will have the opportunity to discover the new look of the FW45.
