Formula 1 official tyre supplier Pirelli has released the expected race strategies for the F1 Japanese Grand Prix: it looks like a two-stop strategy at Suzuka.
Among the variables that can determine the outcome of a race, the choice of the right strategies plays a significant role. Let’s take a look at what Pirelli anticipates for the F1 Japanese Grand Prix, which will take place at the Suzuka circuit.
According to Pirelli’s predictions, it seems like a two-stop strategy is likely. The fastest strategy should involve starting with soft tires and making two subsequent stops with hard tires. In this case, the first pit stop window is expected to be from the thirteenth to the nineteenth lap, with the second one occurring between the thirty-first and thirty-seventh laps.
An alternative could be to start with medium tires, switch to hard tires, and finish with soft tires. If teams opt for this strategy, the pit stop window would be delayed by a few laps, ranging from the fourteenth to the twentieth lap and from the thirty-seventh to the forty-third lap.
The third possibility, left to the teams’ discretion, involves starting with soft tires, then switching to hard tires before finishing with soft ones. In this case, the pit stop window would be between the thirteenth and the nineteenth lap and between the thirty-sixth and the forty-first lap.
The fourth option is a one-stop strategy, starting with soft tires and later switching to hard tires. In this scenario, the pit stop is expected between the eighteenth and the twenty-fifth lap.
It’s worth noting that for the Suzuka weekend, Pirelli has chosen to provide hard C1, medium C2, and soft C3 tire compounds. These are the tire sets still available to the teams.
