The first Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix proved to be a huge success. The event, which took place on May 8, 2022, at the Miami International Autodrome in Miami Gardens, Florida attracted names like Venus and Serena Williams, Tom Brady, Dwyane Wade, Michael Jordan and Michelle Obama and most importantly it boosted Miami local economy by $350 million, according to recent reports.
“Our team worked selflessly to create a campus and experience that was unique to the international culture of Miami” – said former Abu Dhabi and Russian GP boss Richard Cregan, who was appointed CEO of the Miami GP as part of a team of key executives – “We look forward to growing the event and the positive impact it will continue to make here for years to come.”
South Florida Motorsports provided details about the economic impact of the event. The initial Economic Impact Report indicates that tourists spent a total of $150 million during the Formula 1 race week prior to the main event on Sunday. In addition to this, more than 3.000 local workers paid an excess of $100 million in the days leading up to the event and during the Grand Prix.
At the same time, the report informs that a total of 243,000 fans were present at the Miami International Autodrome during the three-day event and television viewing figures went up nearly 30 percent as 23 million viewers tuned in to watch the live action across the United States.
According to Page Six, there were a lot of celebrities who didn’t want to miss out on this special event at the South Florida city and were seen hitting parties and hot spots during the entire weekend which led up to the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix. A-listers on the scene included Jamie Foxx, Ludacris, DJ Khaled, Will.i.am, Swizz Beatz, Timbaland, Larsa Pippen, Post Malone and LeBron James.
Not to mention that David Beckham, Karlie Kloss, Patrick Mahomes, James Marsden, Pharrell, Hailee Steinfeld, Ashton Kutcher and more stars were spotted in the Paddock.
