Boris Johnson wants to save the 2020 British Grand Prix and therefore Formula One intends to move the British double race to the first weekend of August. And then after the two events in Austria we will go to Hungary, which means that Germany is back in doubt.
The effort of the English federation and Liberty Media could be rewarded. The latest indications regarding the British Grand Prix report progress has been made, namely the return of Silverstone in the draft of the 2020 Formula 1 calendar.
The conditional is a must since the context in which Formula 1, promoters and representatives of the British government are operating is not the most stable, but there is a firm will not to give up an event that has always been on the calendar since 1950. The information coming from England places the Silverstone double race on August 2nd and 9th, after a week of stop (July 26th). Everything suggests a derogation that will allow Formula 1 staff not to have to submit to the restrictions set by the quarantine regime.
Even the two-week shift forward from the original schedule is not accidental, because the hope is to get to Silverstone without the restrictive measures currently in force.
With the firm point of departure in Austria on 5 and 12 July, the return of Silverstone would cancel the double race in Hockenheim and, according to the latest developments, any race in Germany is now in doubt, given that after the Austrian stage, there is a good change that Formula One will be heading to Budapest. If Hungaroring is confirmed as the venue for the third 2020 race, Barcelona will occupy the date of 16 August. No changes on the events in Spa and Monza, scheduled respectively for 30 August and 6 September to close the European season.
