Off the back of a thrilling start to the season, Formula 1 heads back to Europe for the Spanish Grand Prix! Located in Montmeló, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya was inaugurated on 10 September 1991. It was a project driven by the Catalan Government, the Royal Automobile Club of Catalonia and the Montmeló Town Council.
During these 25 years, Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has positioned itself as one of the best permanent racetracks and has strengthened its position as a unique venue to organise any kind of events or experiences, given the quality of its services and the polyvalence of its facilities. Thanks to its privileged location, in Montmeló, only a few kilometres away from Barcelona, it also offers several very attractive options for tourists.
2018 Spanish Grand Prix weather forecast:
From the Formula 1 teams’ point of view, different weather conditions can result in very different races, and Formula 1 teams adapt their strategy accordingly, for example using different tyres in wet conditions, and taking account of cross winds which can cause stability problems at high speeds. It is always well worth checking the weather before any grand prix as it can often throw a curve ball into the mix, although in Barcelona perhaps not as often as other places. The catalan city of Barcelona usually enjoys a gorgeous sunny May pretty much every year. The 1996 season stands out as one of the few times the heavens have opened on race day and that was Michael Schumacher‘s first win for ferrari. Well they didn’t call him the rain master for nothing..
This year the race in Spain will most likely take place in sunny and worm conditions, despite the fact that on Sunday morning there is a slight chance of rain, which shouldn’t affect the event in the afternoon, according to metoffice.gov.uk. The current weather forecast also shows that the practice sessions and the qualifying session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will also take place in dry conditions.
