Daniel Ricciardo negotiated a power issue and kept Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel at bay to win his first Monaco Grand Prix, claiming his seventh Grand Prix victory to take the full 25 points. The Australian driver has proven that Red Bull have the quickest car on track this weekend and having started the race as he finished qualifying, there was a moment of genuine panic on lap 28 when he suggested he was losing power.
But with Lewis Hamilton one of many to struggle when the strategy switched to the ultrasoft tyres, Daniel Ricciardo managed to creep home without too much competition. Sebastian Vettel was Ricciardo’s closest challenger while Championship leader Lewis Hamilton came third, ahead of the other Scuderia Ferrari driver, Kimi Raikkonen.
