It’s the biggest city in the Americas and almost certainly not the most beautiful. But, for Brazilians and for the world, Sao Paulo is also “the city” of Formula One. Of the 44 editions of the Brazilian Grand Prix held to date (plus the opening non-championship race in 1972) only ten have been taken place at Rio’s Jacarepagua track, with all the others run at Interlagos, a suburb to the south of the city. Today the track is just over 4 kilometres and its main straight is just 650 metres long, although the cars are accelerating all the way through its final part.
2018 Brazilian Grand Prix weather forecast (Weather Info Sao Paulo):
From the Formula 1 teams’ point of view, different weather conditions can result in very different races, and Formula 1 teams adapt their strategy accordingly, for example using different tyres in wet conditions, and taking account of cross winds which can cause stability problems at high speeds. It is always well worth checking the weather before any grand prix as it can often throw a curve ball into the mix, especially given the fact that Sao Paulo could prove to be another unpredictable weekend. Conditions appear uncertain ahead of the 2018 Formula 1 Brazilian Grand Prix weekend. The temperature for race day is expected to be around 24-26 degrees, while according to the latest forecast, there is a chance of rain on Friday and Saturday afternoon (and here the downpours are usually torrential), which means that the free practice sessions and the qualifying session could take place in wet conditions. Sunday however is meant to be dry. That’s a script we have seen many times before during this 2018 season.
