The last two races of this season, in Belgium and Italy, were more suited to Mercedes and played to Lweis Hamilton’s strengths, but Scuderia Ferrari will now try to take advantage of the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore, a track which has caused problems for Mercedes before.
But in order for the Maranello team to be able to secure a strong performance in qualifying and during the race on Sunday, the information gathered during the free practice sessions on Friday is of crucial importance on a track where the ideal set-up of the car is not easy to identify. In addition to this, tyre management will be more difficult than usual, given the fact that track temperature at night will evolve in quite a different way than it does at a conventional daytime race.
Follow us in the afternoon for the latest news, updates and results from the Marina Bay Street Circuit as the second practice session ahead of the 2017 Singapore Grand Prix is about to get underway, with Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen at the wheel of the SF70H.
