Scuderia Ferrari will be hoping to make up ground at the 2017 Bahrain Grand Prix, as Sebastian Vettel starts third on the grid, behind the two Mercedes drivers, Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, while Kimi Raikkonen will have an even more difficult task starting the race fifth, behind the Red Bull of Daniel Ricciardo.
Both Ferrari drivers encountered problems during the practice sessions on Friday, and the pole position fight did not prove to be as close as predicted, but the Maranello team is confident that the Grand Prix can provide a good opportunity to challenge Mercedes and Red Bull for a podium finish or even the win. A good strategy will be crucial at the Bahrain International Circuit as tyre degredation is most likely going to play a major factor in the outcome of the race. Given the fact that both Mercedes cars start on the first line, the opening lap will also have a significant role as Sebastian will attempt to overtake at least one of the Mercedes rivals, while Kimi should dispose of the Red Bull in front of him.
