The first practice session for the 2017 Bahrain GP did not bring a perfect start for Scuderia Ferrari, as Kimi Raikkonen encountered engine problems: smoke came out from the back of his SF70H and the Finnish driver was forced to parked up on the side of the track, thus prematurely ending his run during the morning session. Ferrari confirmed that overheating in turbo area was the reason for the issue. Things looked better for Sebastian Vettel, who completed 21 timed laps, with a personal best of 1’32″697, which was the fastest time of the first session.
The second practice session at the Bahrain International Circuit will be even more important, given the fact that it is scheduled to take place at exactly the same hour as the qualifying session on Saturday and the race on Sunday, which means the Formula One teams will have the opportunity to carefully evaluate the track in similar conditions to what can be expected during the next days.
