Once again, it was very cold, but finally, bright sunshine put in an appearance for the last day of this “wake-up” test for Scuderia Ferrari at the Fiorano circuit running an SF21 challenger. After Robert Shwartzman took to the track on Tuesday and Carlos Sainz got his chance to drive the SF21 car yesterday, it was Charles Leclerc’s turn to get behind the wheel and, as on the first two days, his brother and Ferrari Driver Academy member Arthur closely observed proceedings from the Maranello pit garage.
123 laps completed by Charles Leclerc.
The Monegasque driver took to the track at 10 o’clock on the dot for an installation lap using the wet tyres, before changing to slicks later on. Given the fact that the track conditions were much better than on the previous days, Charles Leclerc was able to complete the 56 lap programme before the lunch break under the watchful eye of Team Principal Frederic Vasseur and his Maranello teammate Carlos Sainz. In the afternoon, still on slicks, Charles Leclerc brought the day’s total number of laps to 123, equivalent to 366 kilometres.
The next time Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz hit the track will be at the official pre-season testing session which takes place in Fabruary.
