The Ferrari 150º Italia Formula 1 car featured the new technical directives of the 2011 such as the reintroduction of the Kers, after being abandoned for the 2010 season, the presence of the movable rear wing (DRS), the absence of the double diffuser and the F-duct, prohibited by the 2011 rules. The car was born with a lack of downforce which was only partially removed during the season. However, it was able to compensate these deficiencies with mechanical grip, i.e. that provided by the tires in the softer compounds and by the suspensions. The engine under the bonnet is the Tipo 056, 2.4-litre V8 mounted for the first time on the 248 F1, when the new engine technical rules were introduced in 2006, but of course further improved in reliability and consumptions (10% less than in 2010 as the fuel tank’s size was reduced in 2011 to make space for Kers).
