F1 circuit layout records

Different layouts are kept separate where F1DB provides a layout identifier. This avoids comparing lap records from materially different circuit configurations as though they were the same track.

Methodology: Wins, poles, podiums and lap records are calculated from the locally processed F1DB historical race and qualifying tables. Layout-specific records are used where F1DB supplies circuit-layout IDs. Fastest-lap values describe the fastest Formula 1 race/qualifying laps present in the source data and should not be confused with records from other racing categories.

Yas Marina F1 records and Abu Dhabi Grand Prix statistics

Yas Marina Circuit has become synonymous with Formula 1 season finales, championship deciders and racing under floodlights since joining the World Championship in 2009. The Abu Dhabi venue has hosted every edition of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and has developed two distinct statistical eras following a major circuit redesign for 2021.

Ferrari has yet to win or take pole position at Yas Marina through the completed 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, but the Scuderia has accumulated 12 individual podium finishes and four fastest laps. Fernando Alonso, Kimi Räikkönen, Sebastian Vettel, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have all reached the podium there for Ferrari, while several of the circuit’s most important championship finales have directly involved the Scuderia.

Yas Marina Circuit joined Formula 1 in 2009

The first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix took place on 1 November 2009 and immediately became one of the most visually distinctive events on the Formula 1 calendar.

The race begins in daylight and continues through sunset before finishing under the circuit’s extensive floodlighting system.

That transition from afternoon to night has remained one of Yas Marina’s defining characteristics throughout its Formula 1 history.

Every Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has been held at Yas Marina

Unlike several Grands Prix that have moved between multiple venues, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has never changed circuit.

All 17 World Championship editions from 2009 through 2025 have taken place at Yas Marina Circuit.

The major distinction within those statistics comes from the substantial layout changes introduced before the 2021 race rather than from a move to another venue.

Sebastian Vettel won the inaugural Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2009

Lewis Hamilton started the first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from pole for McLaren, but his race ended after 20 laps.

Sebastian Vettel went on to win for Red Bull ahead of teammate Mark Webber, with Jenson Button completing the podium.

Ferrari experienced a difficult first race at Yas Marina. Kimi Räikkönen finished 12th and Giancarlo Fisichella 16th.

Ferrari’s Yas Marina story began without points in 2009

The inaugural Abu Dhabi race came at the end of a challenging season for Ferrari.

Neither Ferrari qualified inside the top ten, with Kimi Räikkönen starting 11th and Giancarlo Fisichella 20th.

The Scuderia therefore left its first visit to Yas Marina without championship points and would have to wait until 2011 for its first podium at the circuit.

The 2010 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix became one of Ferrari’s most painful title finales

Fernando Alonso arrived at the final race of the 2010 season leading the Drivers’ Championship.

The Ferrari driver held an eight-point advantage over Mark Webber and a 15-point advantage over Sebastian Vettel, while Lewis Hamilton also retained a mathematical chance of becoming champion.

For the first time in Formula 1 history, four drivers entered the final Grand Prix still capable of winning the title.

Ferrari’s 2010 strategy left Fernando Alonso trapped behind Vitaly Petrov

Ferrari reacted to Mark Webber’s early pit stop by bringing Fernando Alonso in as well, attempting to protect the Spaniard’s championship position relative to his closest rival.

The strategy placed Alonso behind Vitaly Petrov’s Renault. Overtaking proved extremely difficult on the original Yas Marina layout, and Alonso remained trapped behind Petrov for much of the race.

Alonso eventually finished seventh, while Sebastian Vettel won the Grand Prix and became World Champion by four points.

Sebastian Vettel became World Champion at Yas Marina in 2010

Vettel had never led the championship standings during the 2010 season before the chequered flag fell in Abu Dhabi.

His victory combined with Alonso’s seventh place transformed a 15-point deficit entering the weekend into a four-point championship advantage.

For Ferrari, the result remains one of the most significant examples of Yas Marina’s ability to decide an entire season in a single Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso scored Ferrari’s first Yas Marina podium in 2011

Ferrari reached the Abu Dhabi podium for the first time one year later.

Lewis Hamilton won the 2011 Grand Prix for McLaren, while Fernando Alonso finished second for Ferrari.

Alonso had started fifth but progressed through the race to give the Scuderia its first top-three finish at Yas Marina.

Fernando Alonso finished second again for Ferrari in 2012

Alonso repeated his second-place result during the dramatic 2012 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Kimi Räikkönen won for Lotus, while Alonso finished just 0.852 seconds behind him.

Sebastian Vettel recovered to third after starting from the pit lane, ensuring that the championship fight between Vettel and Alonso continued into the final rounds of the season.

Kimi Räikkönen’s 2012 victory came before his Ferrari return

Kimi Räikkönen is one of the few drivers to have won at Yas Marina, but his 2012 victory should not be counted as a Ferrari success.

The Finn was driving for Lotus at the time and would not return to Ferrari until the 2014 season.

Ferrari therefore remains without an Abu Dhabi Grand Prix victory despite Räikkönen later adding a Yas Marina podium for the Scuderia.

Fernando Alonso set Ferrari’s first Yas Marina fastest lap in 2013

Ferrari added a different type of circuit record during the 2013 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso recorded the fastest lap of the race with a 1:43.434 on lap 55.

It was Ferrari’s first official Grand Prix fastest lap at Yas Marina, although Alonso finished fifth in the race.

Ferrari struggled in the double-points 2014 Abu Dhabi finale

The 2014 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix carried double championship points under a rule used only for that season finale.

Lewis Hamilton won the race and secured the Drivers’ Championship for Mercedes.

Ferrari endured a difficult evening, with Fernando Alonso ninth and Kimi Räikkönen tenth in what was Alonso’s final Grand Prix for the Scuderia before leaving the team.

Kimi Räikkönen returned Ferrari to the Yas Marina podium in 2015

Ferrari’s next Abu Dhabi podium came through Kimi Räikkönen.

Nico Rosberg won the 2015 race ahead of Lewis Hamilton, while Räikkönen finished third for Ferrari.

Sebastian Vettel recovered from 15th on the grid to fourth, giving Ferrari two cars directly behind the Mercedes pair.

Sebastian Vettel finished third and set fastest lap in 2016

The 2016 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix became another Formula 1 title decider, this time between Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

Hamilton won the race, but Rosberg’s second place was enough to secure the World Championship.

Sebastian Vettel finished third for Ferrari and also recorded the fastest lap with a 1:43.729.

Sebastian Vettel gave Ferrari another podium in 2017

Valtteri Bottas converted pole position into victory in the 2017 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton finished second, with Sebastian Vettel third for Ferrari.

Kimi Räikkönen added fourth place in the second Ferrari, giving the Scuderia another strong points finish without seriously threatening Mercedes for victory.

Sebastian Vettel finished second for Ferrari in 2018

Ferrari came closer to victory in the 2018 season finale.

Lewis Hamilton won from pole, but Sebastian Vettel finished second, 2.581 seconds behind the Mercedes.

Vettel also recorded the fastest lap of the Grand Prix at 1:40.867, giving Ferrari its third Yas Marina fastest lap.

Lewis Hamilton established the old-layout qualifying record in 2019

The original Yas Marina configuration reached its qualifying performance peak during the 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.

Lewis Hamilton took pole with a 1:34.779 for Mercedes.

That remains the fastest official qualifying lap recorded on the 5.554 km, 21-turn configuration used from 2009 through 2020.

Lewis Hamilton also set the old-layout race record in 2019

Hamilton dominated the 2019 race and completed the weekend by setting a 1:39.283 fastest lap.

That remains the official Grand Prix lap record for the original Yas Marina configuration.

Because the circuit was substantially changed for 2021, the 2019 benchmark belongs to a separate record set from current-layout lap times.

Charles Leclerc scored his first Ferrari Abu Dhabi podium in 2019

Charles Leclerc qualified third and finished third in the 2019 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton won ahead of Max Verstappen, with Leclerc completing the podium for Ferrari.

It was Leclerc’s first Yas Marina podium and began a sequence that would eventually make Abu Dhabi one of his strongest circuits for podium finishes.

The 2020 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was difficult for Ferrari

Ferrari’s final appearance on the original Yas Marina layout produced one of its weakest results at the circuit.

Charles Leclerc finished 13th and Sebastian Vettel 14th.

Max Verstappen won from pole for Red Bull, ending Mercedes’ six-race winning sequence at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Yas Marina was substantially redesigned for the 2021 Grand Prix

The circuit underwent major changes before Formula 1 returned in 2021.

The slow chicane before the northern hairpin was removed, creating a wider and faster Turn 5 leading onto the long back straight.

The previous Turns 11, 12, 13 and 14 were replaced by a single sweeping banked left-hander, while several corners around the hotel section were opened up to improve flow.

The 2021 redesign shortened Yas Marina from 5.554 km to 5.281 km

The original Formula 1 circuit measured 5.554 km and contained 21 turns.

The redesigned version introduced for the 2021 Grand Prix measures 5.281 km and contains 16 turns.

The modern race is therefore run over 58 laps rather than the 55 laps used on the original configuration.

The current Yas Marina circuit measures 5.281 km

Formula 1’s present Abu Dhabi configuration is 5.281 km long and consists of 16 turns.

The Grand Prix runs for 58 laps, producing a total race distance of 306.183 km.

The circuit continues to operate anti-clockwise and retains its distinctive combination of long straights, slower traction zones and corners surrounding the marina and hotel complex.

Turn 5 is crucial for the long Yas Marina back straight

The redesigned Turn 5 hairpin is one of the most important corners on the current circuit.

A strong exit is essential because it leads directly onto one of Formula 1’s longest periods of full-throttle acceleration.

That makes traction particularly important while also creating one of the circuit’s principal overtaking opportunities.

The modern Turn 9 transformed Yas Marina’s second sector

The old sequence of several slower corners was replaced in 2021 by a long banked left-hander.

The new Turn 9 substantially increased the speed and flow of the lap and created a section in which drivers can take different lines.

The change was part of a wider effort to make it easier for cars to follow one another and improve racing opportunities.

Yas Marina remains Formula 1’s best-known twilight race

The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix begins before sunset and transitions into darkness as the race develops.

Floodlights illuminate the circuit throughout the event, meaning visibility remains consistent even as the natural light disappears.

The changing temperatures during the transition from day to night can nevertheless affect track conditions and tyre behaviour.

Max Verstappen set the current-layout qualifying record in 2021

The first qualifying session on the redesigned Yas Marina Circuit immediately produced the benchmark that remains intact through 2025.

Max Verstappen took pole with a 1:22.109.

Lewis Hamilton qualified second at 1:22.480, while Carlos Sainz was Ferrari’s fastest driver in fifth with a 1:22.992.

The 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix produced another historic title finale

Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton arrived at Yas Marina level on points for the final race of the 2021 season.

Hamilton led most of the Grand Prix before a late Safety Car changed the closing stages.

Verstappen passed Hamilton following the final-lap restart and won the race, securing his first Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship.

Carlos Sainz put Ferrari on the podium in the 2021 title decider

Behind the championship battle, Carlos Sainz completed an excellent first Ferrari season with third place.

Sainz finished 5.173 seconds behind Verstappen and less than three seconds behind Hamilton.

Charles Leclerc finished tenth in the second Ferrari.

Charles Leclerc beat Sergio Perez to championship runner-up in Abu Dhabi in 2022

The 2022 season finale featured another important Ferrari battle, this time for second place in the Drivers’ Championship.

Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez arrived at Yas Marina level on points behind already-crowned champion Max Verstappen.

Leclerc finished second in the race ahead of Perez and therefore secured second place in the final Drivers’ Championship standings.

Charles Leclerc finished second at Yas Marina in 2022

Max Verstappen won the 2022 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from pole.

Leclerc executed a one-stop strategy and finished second, 8.771 seconds behind the Red Bull.

Carlos Sainz finished fourth, giving Ferrari two cars inside the top four at the season finale.

Charles Leclerc finished second again in Abu Dhabi in 2023

Ferrari returned to the Yas Marina podium with Charles Leclerc one year later.

Leclerc qualified second and finished second behind Max Verstappen.

His focus during the closing laps extended beyond his own finishing position because Ferrari was fighting Mercedes for second place in the Constructors’ Championship.

Charles Leclerc tried an unusual tactical move against Mercedes in 2023

Sergio Perez carried a five-second penalty late in the race, while George Russell’s Mercedes was running behind Charles Leclerc.

Leclerc allowed Perez through and attempted to give the Red Bull enough assistance to finish more than five seconds ahead of Russell after the penalty was applied.

The plan did not succeed. Ferrari ultimately finished the Constructors’ Championship three points behind Mercedes.

Carlos Sainz endured a difficult 2023 Abu Dhabi finale

While Leclerc finished second, Carlos Sainz experienced a much more difficult Grand Prix.

Sainz started 16th and was classified 18th after a strategy that did not produce the result Ferrari required in its constructors’ battle.

The contrast left Leclerc carrying most of Ferrari’s challenge against Mercedes during the decisive final laps.

Lando Norris won the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The 2024 season finale produced another constructors’ championship showdown, this time between McLaren and Ferrari.

Lando Norris started from pole and won the race for McLaren.

Carlos Sainz finished second and Charles Leclerc third, but Norris’s victory was enough to secure the Constructors’ Championship for McLaren.

Ferrari scored its first Yas Marina double podium in 2024

Carlos Sainz’s second place and Charles Leclerc’s third gave Ferrari two drivers on the Abu Dhabi podium for the first time.

The result was the Scuderia’s strongest combined Grand Prix finish at Yas Marina through 2025.

Despite scoring 33 points from second and third, Ferrari finished the championship 14 points behind McLaren.

Charles Leclerc recovered from 19th to the podium in Abu Dhabi in 2024

Leclerc faced an especially difficult task after starting 19th on the grid.

The Ferrari driver gained numerous positions during the opening phase and continued his recovery through the race.

He eventually reached third place, joining teammate Carlos Sainz on the podium and keeping Ferrari’s constructors’ title challenge alive until the chequered flag.

Carlos Sainz finished second in his final race for Ferrari

The 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was Carlos Sainz’s final Formula 1 race as a Ferrari driver.

He ended his four-season spell with the Scuderia by finishing second behind Lando Norris.

Sainz therefore left Ferrari with one final podium at a circuit where he had also finished third for the team in 2021.

Kevin Magnussen set the current Yas Marina race-lap record in 2024

Kevin Magnussen established a new official Grand Prix lap record during the 2024 Abu Dhabi race.

The Haas driver recorded a 1:25.637 on lap 57.

That remains the official race-lap benchmark for the current 5.281 km configuration through the completed 2025 Grand Prix.

Max Verstappen took pole for the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The most recent completed qualifying session at Yas Marina produced another Max Verstappen pole position.

Verstappen recorded a 1:22.207, only 0.098 seconds slower than his own 2021 qualifying record.

Lando Norris qualified second and Oscar Piastri third, while Charles Leclerc placed Ferrari fifth.

Charles Leclerc qualified fifth for Ferrari in Abu Dhabi in 2025

Leclerc progressed comfortably into Q3 and recorded a 1:22.730 on his final qualifying run.

That placed him behind Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri and George Russell.

The Ferrari nevertheless started close enough to the championship contenders to become involved in the opening stages of the race.

Lewis Hamilton started 16th in his first Abu Dhabi Grand Prix for Ferrari

Lewis Hamilton’s first Yas Marina qualifying session as a Ferrari driver ended in Q1.

He recorded a 1:23.394 and qualified 16th.

It left Hamilton facing a substantial recovery task in the final Grand Prix of his first season with the Scuderia.

Max Verstappen won the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Verstappen converted pole position into victory in the most recent completed Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

He finished 12.594 seconds ahead of Oscar Piastri, with Lando Norris third.

The victory was Verstappen’s fifth at Yas Marina, bringing him level with Lewis Hamilton at the top of the circuit’s all-time driver wins ranking.

Lando Norris became World Champion at Yas Marina in 2025

The 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was another title-deciding season finale.

Lando Norris entered the race fighting Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri for the Drivers’ Championship and needed a podium finish to guarantee the title.

Norris finished third and became Formula 1 World Champion for the first time, defeating Verstappen by only two points in the final standings.

Charles Leclerc finished fourth for Ferrari in Abu Dhabi in 2025

Leclerc spent the opening stages applying pressure to championship contender Lando Norris but was ultimately unable to break into the podium positions.

He finished fourth, 23.279 seconds behind race winner Max Verstappen.

It ended Leclerc’s run of three consecutive Abu Dhabi podium finishes from 2022 through 2024.

Lewis Hamilton recovered from 16th to eighth in Abu Dhabi in 2025

Hamilton improved substantially from his qualifying position during the race.

Starting 16th, he worked his way through the field and finished eighth.

The result gave Ferrari points with both cars in the final Grand Prix of the 2025 season.

Charles Leclerc set the fastest lap of the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Although Ferrari did not reach the podium in 2025, Charles Leclerc recorded the fastest lap of the race.

Leclerc produced a 1:26.725 on lap 45, narrowly beating Oscar Piastri’s 1:26.765.

It was Ferrari’s fourth Yas Marina fastest lap and Leclerc’s first at the circuit.

Ferrari has never won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

Victory remains the most significant result missing from Ferrari’s Yas Marina record.

The Scuderia has accumulated 12 podium finishes but has never occupied the top step after 17 completed Abu Dhabi Grands Prix.

Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz have all finished second for Ferrari without converting those performances into victory.

Ferrari has never taken pole position at Yas Marina

Ferrari is also still searching for its first Formula 1 pole position at the Abu Dhabi circuit.

The Scuderia has started from the front row on several occasions, including Charles Leclerc’s second-place qualifying result in 2023, but no Ferrari driver has been officially credited with pole.

This makes Yas Marina unusual among current Formula 1 circuits because Ferrari has accumulated numerous podiums without either a victory or pole position.

Ferrari has 12 individual podium finishes at Yas Marina

Ferrari’s podium record through the completed 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is:

  • 2011: Fernando Alonso – P2.
  • 2012: Fernando Alonso – P2.
  • 2015: Kimi Räikkönen – P3.
  • 2016: Sebastian Vettel – P3.
  • 2017: Sebastian Vettel – P3.
  • 2018: Sebastian Vettel – P2.
  • 2019: Charles Leclerc – P3.
  • 2021: Carlos Sainz – P3.
  • 2022: Charles Leclerc – P2.
  • 2023: Charles Leclerc – P2.
  • 2024: Carlos Sainz – P2.
  • 2024: Charles Leclerc – P3.

Charles Leclerc leads Ferrari’s individual Yas Marina podium tally with four, ahead of Sebastian Vettel with three.

Charles Leclerc is Ferrari’s most successful Yas Marina podium driver

Leclerc has finished on the Abu Dhabi podium four times for Ferrari.

He was third in 2019, second in both 2022 and 2023 and third again after starting 19th in 2024.

No other Ferrari driver has reached the Yas Marina podium as often.

Ferrari has recorded one Yas Marina double podium

Ferrari’s only double podium at the Abu Dhabi circuit came in 2024.

  • 2024: Carlos Sainz P2, Charles Leclerc P3.

The Scuderia has never recorded a one-two at Yas Marina because it has never won the Grand Prix.

Ferrari has four fastest laps at Yas Marina

Ferrari has recorded four official Grand Prix fastest laps across the circuit’s two Formula 1 configurations.

  • 2013: Fernando Alonso – 1:43.434.
  • 2016: Sebastian Vettel – 1:43.729.
  • 2018: Sebastian Vettel – 1:40.867.
  • 2025: Charles Leclerc – 1:26.725.

The first three were achieved on the original 5.554 km layout, while Leclerc’s 2025 lap came on the redesigned 5.281 km circuit.

Yas Marina has two separate Formula 1 lap-record sets

The 2021 redesign means lap records from the original circuit should not be compared directly with times from the current configuration.

  • 2009–2020 layout, 5.554 km and 21 turns: Lewis Hamilton qualifying record – 1:34.779 in 2019; Lewis Hamilton race record – 1:39.283 in 2019.
  • 2021–present layout, 5.281 km and 16 turns: Max Verstappen qualifying record – 1:22.109 in 2021; Kevin Magnussen race record – 1:25.637 in 2024.

The large difference in lap time reflects the removal and reconfiguration of several slow sections rather than a simple improvement in Formula 1 car performance.

Max Verstappen holds the current-layout Yas Marina qualifying record

Verstappen’s 1:22.109 from 2021 remains the fastest official qualifying lap recorded on the current circuit through 2025.

His 1:22.207 pole lap in 2025 came extremely close but remained 0.098 seconds slower.

Lando Norris’s 1:22.595 from 2024 also failed to displace the original current-layout benchmark.

Kevin Magnussen holds the current Yas Marina race-lap record

Magnussen’s 1:25.637 from the 2024 Grand Prix remains the official race record for the redesigned circuit.

Charles Leclerc’s Ferrari was fastest in the 2025 race with a 1:26.725, but that was 1.088 seconds slower than Magnussen’s benchmark.

The record therefore remains intact entering the 2026 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix weekend.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen share the Yas Marina wins record

Two drivers jointly hold the outright Formula 1 victory record at Yas Marina through 2025.

Lewis Hamilton won in 2011, 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019.

Max Verstappen won in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025.

Both therefore have five Abu Dhabi Grand Prix victories.

Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen also share the Yas Marina pole record

The same two drivers share the circuit’s pole-position record.

Hamilton has five Yas Marina poles and Verstappen also has five.

Sebastian Vettel and Nico Rosberg follow with two each, while Mark Webber, Valtteri Bottas and Lando Norris have one apiece.

Red Bull holds the Yas Marina constructor wins record

Red Bull is the most successful Formula 1 constructor at Yas Marina with eight victories through 2025.

Mercedes follows with six, while McLaren has two and Lotus one.

Ferrari remains the highest-profile constructor still searching for its first victory at the circuit.

Eleven consecutive Abu Dhabi Grands Prix have been won from pole

Yas Marina has developed an extraordinary relationship between pole position and race victory.

Every Abu Dhabi Grand Prix from 2015 through 2025 was won by the driver who started from pole position.

The 11-race sequence is a Formula 1 record for consecutive races at one venue won from pole and highlights the importance of qualifying performance at Yas Marina.

Qualifying is particularly important at Yas Marina

The long straights provide overtaking opportunities, but the circuit has historically rewarded drivers who control the race from the front.

Track position allows the leader to manage tyres, strategy and the gaps required around pit-stop windows.

The remarkable run of pole-to-victory results since 2015 demonstrates how difficult it can be to overturn the qualifying order at the front.

Yas Marina has repeatedly decided the Formula 1 World Championship

The circuit’s frequent position as the season finale has made it one of the most important championship venues of the modern era.

Sebastian Vettel became World Champion there in 2010 after overcoming Fernando Alonso’s points advantage. Nico Rosberg secured the 2016 title at Yas Marina, Max Verstappen won his first championship there in 2021 and Lando Norris secured his first Drivers’ Championship at the circuit in 2025.

Ferrari has therefore experienced both championship heartbreak and major season-ending battles at Abu Dhabi.

Ferrari’s Yas Marina history is defined by near misses rather than victories

The Scuderia’s statistics at Abu Dhabi are unusual.

Ferrari has accumulated 12 podium finishes and four fastest laps while repeatedly fighting near the front, yet has never taken pole or won the Grand Prix.

Fernando Alonso’s title defeat in 2010, Charles Leclerc’s runner-up finishes and Ferrari’s constructors’ championship battles in 2023 and 2024 have nevertheless made Yas Marina highly significant in the team’s modern history.

Ferrari’s complete Formula 1 record at Yas Marina through 2025

Ferrari has competed in all 17 Abu Dhabi Grands Prix held at Yas Marina from 2009 through 2025.

The Scuderia has recorded no victories, no pole positions, 12 individual podium finishes, one double podium and four official Grand Prix fastest laps.

Charles Leclerc is Ferrari’s leading podium scorer at the venue with four, followed by Sebastian Vettel with three, Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz with two each and Kimi Räikkönen with one.

Ferrari’s most recent Yas Marina podiums came through Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc in the 2024 season finale, while Leclerc added the Scuderia’s fourth circuit fastest lap in 2025.

Yas Marina records are updated through the 2025 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix

The latest completed Formula 1 race at Yas Marina took place on 7 December 2025.

Max Verstappen won from pole ahead of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, with Norris securing his first Drivers’ World Championship by two points.

Charles Leclerc finished fourth for Ferrari and recorded the fastest lap at 1:26.725, while Lewis Hamilton recovered from 16th on the grid to finish eighth.

The 2026 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix has not yet taken place, so the circuit records on this page currently include completed Formula 1 results only through 2025.

Why Yas Marina remains an important circuit in Ferrari’s modern history

Ferrari has never won at Yas Marina, yet few circuits without a Scuderia victory have played such an important role in the team’s recent history.

Fernando Alonso lost the 2010 Drivers’ Championship there after entering the finale as championship leader, while Charles Leclerc secured second in the 2022 Drivers’ standings at the circuit and later fought to improve Ferrari’s constructors’ position in both 2023 and 2024.

The Scuderia’s 12 podium finishes demonstrate consistent competitiveness without the ultimate result, making victory at Yas Marina one of the most notable gaps remaining in Ferrari’s current Formula 1 circuit record.
