F1 circuit layout records
Different layouts are kept separate where F1DB provides a layout identifier. This avoids comparing lap records from materially different circuit configurations as though they were the same track.

Red Bull Ring F1 records across the Österreichring, A1-Ring and modern era
The Formula 1 history of Spielberg stretches far beyond the modern Red Bull Ring name. The Austrian venue first became established in the World Championship as the Österreichring, later returned as the A1-Ring and now hosts Formula 1 as the Red Bull Ring. Those different identities belong to the same location, but the circuit itself has also changed substantially over time.
This page brings together Formula 1 records achieved at Spielberg across those eras, including race victories, pole positions, podium finishes, Ferrari results, fastest race laps, qualifying records and layout-specific statistics. The aim is to provide one circuit-based record while preserving the historical context needed to understand performances from very different versions of the track.
Who has the most Formula 1 wins at the Red Bull Ring and Spielberg?
The driver rankings above count Formula 1 World Championship victories achieved at the Spielberg venue rather than restricting the statistics to races held under the Red Bull Ring name. This allows victories from the Österreichring, A1-Ring and modern periods to contribute to the complete circuit record.
The constructor table applies the same approach to Formula 1 teams, revealing which manufacturers have accumulated the most victories at Spielberg over the circuit’s different competitive eras.
Österreichring records form part of Spielberg’s F1 history
The original Österreichring was a very different circuit from the track Formula 1 races on today. Its longer layout and high-speed character created lap times and performance demands that cannot be compared directly with those of the modern Red Bull Ring.
Those historic races remain an essential part of Spielberg’s Formula 1 record, however. For statistics such as total wins, poles and podiums, results from that era belong in the same venue-based history. For lap-time records, the specific circuit configuration becomes much more important.
From the A1-Ring to the modern Red Bull Ring
Formula 1 later returned to Spielberg on a dramatically shortened configuration known as the A1-Ring. The same basic modern layout subsequently became associated with the Red Bull Ring when Formula 1 returned again in the 2010s.
This creates an unusual statistical continuity: the venue changed name more than once, while the modern configuration is fundamentally different from the old Österreichring. Organising the database by circuit and layout allows those two facts to be represented without splitting Spielberg’s entire Formula 1 history into unrelated records.
Red Bull Ring and Spielberg pole position records
Pole-position totals provide one of the clearest ways to compare repeated qualifying success at Spielberg. The tables above rank the drivers and constructors with the most Formula 1 poles at the venue across its different identities.
Raw qualifying lap times require more caution. A pole lap on the long Österreichring and a qualifying benchmark on the compact modern Red Bull Ring were set on substantially different circuits, so the stopwatch alone cannot provide a meaningful all-era comparison.
Most Formula 1 podium finishes at Spielberg
Podium statistics highlight competitors that have repeatedly achieved strong results at the Austrian venue, including drivers and teams whose consistency may not be obvious from the victory rankings alone.
By counting second- and third-place finishes alongside victories in a separate historical ranking, the database provides a broader view of which drivers and constructors have built the strongest long-term records at Spielberg.
Ferrari’s Formula 1 record at the Red Bull Ring and Österreichring
Ferrari’s Spielberg history extends from the original Österreichring era through the A1-Ring period and into the modern Red Bull Ring. That makes the circuit an interesting reference point for comparing generations of Scuderia Formula 1 results at the same Austrian venue.
The Ferrari statistics above bring together the team’s victories, pole positions and podium finishes at Spielberg. They can be compared with Ferrari’s records at other long-established European circuits through the same methodology used across the ScuderiaFans circuit statistics database.
Red Bull Ring fastest lap and qualifying records
The modern Red Bull Ring produces relatively short Formula 1 lap times, but a fastest race lap and a fastest qualifying lap still represent different performance conditions. Qualifying focuses on maximum single-lap performance, while race fastest laps can be shaped by tyre life, fuel load, traffic and strategy.
The database therefore reports those benchmarks separately and associates them with the relevant circuit layout. This avoids presenting one number as a universal Spielberg lap record across configurations that differ substantially in both length and character.
Why Spielberg’s circuit layouts are essential to its F1 record
Layout context is particularly important at Spielberg. The historical database distinguishes the original Österreichring configurations from the shorter layout subsequently used for the A1-Ring and Red Bull Ring periods.
That separation allows race and qualifying lap records to be interpreted properly. Victory and podium totals can form part of one continuous circuit history, while individual lap times remain attached to the version of Spielberg on which they were actually recorded.
Red Bull Ring records versus Austrian Grand Prix records
The Red Bull Ring is closely associated with the Austrian Grand Prix, but the two statistical concepts are not completely identical. The Austrian Grand Prix has also been held away from the Spielberg circuit, so an event-wide record can include results that do not belong to the Red Bull Ring, A1-Ring or Österreichring.
