F1 Driver of the Day statistics and records
Formula 1 Driver of the Day is the fan-voted award that recognises the driver supporters feel delivered the standout performance of a Grand Prix. Introduced in 2016, it provides a different perspective on Formula 1 results because the winner does not necessarily have to win the race, finish on the podium or drive the fastest car.
This F1 Driver of the Day statistics database allows you to explore the award by season or across its complete history. The rankings include Driver of the Day victories, each driver’s share of the recorded awards, constructor totals, Ferrari records and race-by-race results. Where vote-percentage data is available, the database also shows the winning share of the fan vote.
How the F1 Driver of the Day award works
Driver of the Day is decided by a Formula 1 fan vote rather than championship points, finishing position or an objective performance formula. That distinction is important when interpreting the statistics. A driver can win the award after taking victory, but fans may also recognise a recovery drive, an unexpected result, a strong defensive performance or another particularly memorable race.
For that reason, the rankings on this page should be viewed as a record of fan-voted Formula 1 awards rather than a definitive ranking of driver ability or race performance. Race wins and podium finishes are included as additional context so that each Driver of the Day result can be compared with the driver’s official finishing position.
F1 Driver of the Day rankings by season and all-time
Use the season selector at the top of the database to switch between individual Formula 1 seasons and the all-time rankings. The seasonal view makes it possible to compare the drivers who have collected the most awards during a particular championship, while the all-time view combines the available Driver of the Day results from 2016 onwards.
The driver table includes the number of awards, award share, race victories, podium finishes and average winning vote percentage where the underlying data provides a vote share. Tied totals use competition-style rankings so drivers with an identical number of awards share the same ranking position.
F1 constructor Driver of the Day rankings
The constructor rankings attribute each Driver of the Day award to the team represented by the winning driver in that Grand Prix. This provides another way of looking at how frequently drivers from Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren, Red Bull and other Formula 1 teams have been recognised by fans.
Constructor totals should not be interpreted as a measure of outright car performance. They simply aggregate the recorded fan-voted awards achieved while drivers represented each constructor.
Ferrari Driver of the Day records
For Ferrari fans, the dedicated Ferrari section brings together Driver of the Day awards won by drivers while racing for the Scuderia. It provides a direct comparison between Ferrari drivers and shows how the team’s fan-voted record has developed across different seasons.

Driver of the Day vote percentages explained
Vote-share information is shown only when a percentage is available in the underlying historical data. As a result, the database may contain more recorded Driver of the Day winners than races with complete vote-percentage information. Average winning vote percentages are therefore calculated only from races for which that data is available.
A higher winning vote share means that a larger percentage of the recorded vote went to that particular race winner. It should not be compared directly across every Formula 1 era without context, because the number of drivers, competitive circumstances and distribution of fan votes can differ substantially from one Grand Prix to another.
Driver of the Day and race-result context
The race-by-race table combines each recorded Driver of the Day winner with the circuit, constructor, vote share where available and official race finishing position. This makes it easy to identify occasions when fans selected the race winner as Driver of the Day as well as races in which the award went to a driver finishing further down the order.
For championship context alongside these results, the F1 Championship Points Calculator shows current points, remaining championship opportunities and title scenarios, while the F1 Circuit Records & Statistics database provides historical records for Formula 1 circuits.
F1 Driver of the Day statistics FAQ
What is F1 Driver of the Day?
Driver of the Day is a fan-voted Formula 1 award used to recognise a standout driver performance during a Grand Prix. The award has existed since 2016.
Does the race winner automatically become Driver of the Day?
No. The award is decided by the fan vote, so it can be won by a driver finishing anywhere in the classified race results. The database therefore shows race finishing position alongside the award wherever that information is available.
Who has won the most F1 Driver of the Day awards?
Select the All-time option in the database above to see the current historical ranking. The table updates from the locally maintained statistics data rather than relying on a permanently written total in the article text.
Can I see Driver of the Day statistics for individual F1 seasons?
Yes. The season selector allows you to switch between the all-time database and individual seasons covered by the Driver of the Day data.
Are Driver of the Day rankings an objective measure of driver performance?
No. Driver of the Day is a fan-voted award. The statistics show how frequently drivers have won that vote and provide race-result context, but they should not be treated as an objective performance rating.
Why is the vote percentage missing for some races?
Historical winning vote percentages are displayed only when they are present in the available source data. The Driver of the Day winner can therefore be recorded even when a corresponding vote percentage is unavailable.
