On Tuesday morning, at the Fiorano circuit, near its headquarters, Scuderia Ferrari officially presented the SF-23, the car that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will drive in the 2023 Formula 1 campaign with the goal of challenging Red Bull and Mercedes for both titles. A car that has been defined by several reports as “an ‘extreme evolution’ of the F1-75 car which started the 2022 F1 season in an impressive manner.
But what do the ex-Ferrari drivers think of the new car from Maranello? La Gazzetta dello Sport asked Felipe Massa for an opinion. Let’s find out what the Brazilian said.
Felipe Massa’s comment on the SF-23
“The car seems very nice to me. Even if it’s still too early to be able to say anything about the performance. The good thing is that the presentation is always a joy, a unique celebration”, Felipe Massa said in the interview for the Italian daily newspaper. Asked about the competitiveness of the SF-23, he underlined that a real opinion can be given “after the first testing session, and then after the first races”.
The eight seasons spent in Maranello, coming one step away from the world title with Scuderia Ferrari, have of course a special place in the heart of the Brazilian, who remains one of the former Ferrari drivers most loved by the Tifosi. Felipe Massa concludes with a wish for his former team: “Like all Ferrari fans around the world, I hope it is a competitive car and that the team can finally win the Formula 1 world championship again”.
