F1 Miami GP | Lewis Hamilton inspires students through Mission 44 initiative at the track
Lewis Hamilton used his presence at the Miami Grand Prix not only to compete on track with Ferrari, but also to continue his long-standing commitment to education and social impact through his charitable foundation, Mission 44.
The initiative brought a group of local students into the heart of Formula 1 at the Miami International Autodrome, offering them a rare opportunity to experience the paddock environment from the inside and see how the sport operates beyond the racing itself.
According to Mission 44, the day was designed as a fully immersive experience, combining direct access to the F1 world with educational and inspirational elements aimed at opening new career pathways for young people from underrepresented backgrounds.
“We’re back in Miami joined by local students and going trackside for a truly immersive experience, including an inspirational chat with our founder Lewis Hamilton and CEO jasonjarthur,” the foundation explained.
One of the highlights of the programme was a behind-the-scenes tour of the paddock, where students were given access to areas usually reserved for teams, engineers, and media personnel. Among the most notable stops was the Ferrari garage, where Lewis Hamilton now competes in his first season with the Scuderia.
The group also participated in a hands-on Pirelli tyre-fitting activity, giving them a practical understanding of one of the most crucial and technical aspects of race weekend operations. While often overlooked by casual fans, pit stop execution and tyre management remain key performance factors in modern Formula 1.
Beyond the technical exposure, the initiative placed strong emphasis on education and future opportunities in STEM fields, highlighting the wide range of careers available within motorsport, from engineering and data analysis to logistics and communications.
“As part of an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the F1 paddock, the students explored the iconic Ferrari garage and took part in a hands-on Pirelli tyre-fitting activity, gaining valuable insight into the breadth of careers that power Formula 1 and the pathways into them,” Mission 44 added.
The programme was delivered in collaboration with Formula 1, IBM, and America On Tech, reinforcing a shared effort to improve access to STEM education and create more inclusive entry points into high-performance industries like motorsport.
For Lewis Hamilton, who has repeatedly spoken about the importance of diversity and representation in Formula 1, initiatives like Mission 44 remain a core part of his off-track legacy. Now in his second season with Scuderia Ferrari, he continues to use his global platform not only to push for results on Sunday, but also to influence long-term change within the sport.
Moments like the Miami paddock visit underline how modern Formula 1 extends far beyond racing alone, connecting elite competition with education, technology, and social responsibility in a way that continues to grow year after year.
