Scuderia Ferrari introduces at Spa-Francorchamps a new rear wing designed for fast circuits: this is an evolution of the version which we saw at the Baku City Circuit for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix that has a main profile flat for two thirds and then close to the bulkheads side highlights a rather accentuated curl to reduce drag and improve top speeds.
The Maranello team has also adapted the mobile flap which has a nolder on the opening edge, while the rest of this element arches towards the side supports which are newly designed, in search of greater efficiency especially when the DRS is open.
This solution is very different from the low downforce configuration one that had debuted on the F1-75 car of Charles Leclerc in the Canadian Grand Prix: the rear wing in question, then used later in the season with small adaptations, had a pronounced spoon shape of the main profile, while the apexes supporting the mobile flaps were more rounded than the solution proposed in Belgium.
The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, in fact, offers two very fast sections T1 and T3, while the central one is slower: the performance comes from the better balance that can be found from an aerodynamic compromise. However, such an aerodynamic compromise will not be easy to identify, especially if Charles Leclerc has to take some grid positions for using the new hybrid or a fresh internal combustion engine.
