Ted Kravitz, the pit lane reporter for Sky Sports, praised the design of Red Bull’s floor while discrediting those of Ferrari and Mercedes, labeling them as “prehistoric” compared to the RB19. Thanks to the cranes in Monaco, which lifted the cars of the three top teams into the air during the Monte Carlo weekend, many focused on the complexity of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s car floor, contrasting with the more “simple” designs of the SF-23 and W14 single-seaters.
Ted Kravitz praised the shape of the RB19’s floor while discrediting those of Ferrari and Mercedes.
“Thanks to Perez, the whole Formula 1 saw the fabulous Red Bull floor,” said the British commentator. “Look for yourselves: it’s something wonderful and beautiful. Especially when compared to the floors of Mercedes and Ferrari, which we also saw on the cranes.” – said the pit-lane reporter, who is known for his in-depth technical analysis and insights into the world of F1.
“They look prehistoric. Even the venturi tunnels have tunnels of their own on the Red Bull! It’s so complex in three dimensions. There are elements that descend, curl up, circles where the vortex begins, and vortices that are generated halfway through the floor.” – he pointed out.

Thanks to Sergio Perez’s incident in the very first attempt of Q1, the RB19, lifted by the crane, was exposed to the photographers, who didn’t miss the opportunity to take highly detailed pictures of the RB19’s floor.
Many have highlighted the extreme care and meticulousness in every micro area of the floor of the Anglo-Austrian car. In contrast, the floors of Ferrari and Mercedes are much less sophisticated in terms of shapes.
“What they’re doing with the area under the intrusion cones and the gearbox…,” Ted Kravitz continues, “I’m telling you, if you look at these images and compare them to those of Mercedes and Ferrari, it’s no wonder that the RB19 is performing so well. They will hate it, of course. But hey, blame Perez! It’s not our fault that we can see it.” – the Sky Sports reported concluded following the Monaco Grand Prix.
The floors of the SF-23 and W14 were also captured following the incidents involving Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton. Toto Wolff and Christian Horner themselves were not exactly thrilled to see their cars photographed from every angle, considering the intervention of the crane unnecessary.
