A staunch supporter of Mattia Binotto.
From France, there are no doubts that as early as September, Mattia Binotto will already be operational in setting up the relaunch of Alpine, divided between France (Viry-Chatillon) and the United Kingdom (Enstone) regarding the two operational bases of the team representing the Renault group in Formula 1. Renault might even consider selling the Enstone headquarters to Andretti to remain in Formula 1 only as a motor supplier.
Last December, Mattia Binotto resigned from his role as team principal and managing director of Scuderia Ferrari a year ahead of the natural contract expiration. It wouldn’t be surprising if some other technicians at the Prancing Horse decided to follow the former ‘Captain’ beyond the Alps.
One name potentially leaving Ferrari is Luigi Fraboni, head of power unit operations and electronics for Scuderia Ferrari. The 54-year-old from Bologna joined Ferrari practically at the beginning of his career (“At the end of my engineering university studies, I had the opportunity to do my thesis in the Ferrari Sporting Management’s engine group, and after a brief work experience in another company, when they called me from Maranello to offer me a job, I didn’t even think for a moment and accepted with great enthusiasm,” he recounted on the eve of the 2022 Belgian Grand Prix) and prior to Binotto’s resignation, he accumulated a long tenure side by side with the former team principal. The two could soon reunite in Viry-Chatillon after sharing an extensive experience as engine experts at Ferrari.
