Work vehicles are in action at Monza: the modernization of the racetrack is progressing with the demolition of underpasses.
In just over a month of intensive work, the Monza racetrack – set to host the F1 in September – is already undergoing a transformation: after the asphalt removal, it’s now time for the demolition of the underpasses.
The modernization works at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza commenced on January 8th. In the presence of the media, key figures from the involved institutions presented the schedule that will lead the Brianza circuit to take an evolutionary step in modernity and services.
The stated goal for the completion of the works is set for June 2024, awaiting the FIA inspection in July. “Speed” was the watchword of ACI President Sticchi Damiani: “Our main goal is to modernize our racetrack to ensure it keeps up with the times. No more issues with fan flows, everything must be kept under control, and maximum comfort provided.”
The pace of the works will be fast, as announced by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Matteo Salvini, who declared the completion of the works in 140 days.
Demolished underpasses in Monza: the video
In recent weeks, the local news outlet MBNews.it had shown an impressive video of a circuit stripped of its asphalt surface. Today, MBNews itself publishes the clip featuring the demolition of the underpasses in Monza.
The underpass works are diverse. The modernization project proposes – at the Parabolica exit – a new drivable underpass, as well as the reconstruction of the three existing underpasses (one on the main straight, the other two on the parallel straight between Ascari and Parabolica).
