Ferrari embarked in the new and attractive world of Esports in 2019 by setting up a special section, known as the FDA Esports Team within the FDA (Ferrari Driver Academy). The first season was immediately successful, with one of the sim drivers, David Tonizza, winning the championship and the team finishing second in the standings. The 2020 season saw all the teams and drivers competing remotely because of the pandemic. Tonizza was still able to show his skills by winning two of the 12 races of the calendar (Vietnam and Italy). He was seventh in the Drivers’ championship, with FDA Esports Team fifth among the Teams.
