There are many racing disciplines out there – light and grippy formula cars, Le Man prototypes, GT cars, stock cars and superbikes. Each discipline goes about racing in very different ways, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. But – which is quicker?
Former British racing driver and YouTube personality Scott Mansell has compared them all using a series of tests to figure this out and the answers may surprise you. Scott Mansell also did this a couple of years ago, but since then Formula 1 and NASCAR have had enormous rule changes, affecting how they all stack up against the pack, so he has ripped up the form book and started again.
The tests being used are 0-60mph, top speed and lap time around a track. Quick disclaimer, since not all of these cars have raced the same tracks, or done speed runs in the same conditions – there is no way to be 100% accurate with this. But we can compare lap times at several different tracks to give it the best go possible.
