At 61, “el Matador” (as he is known in Spain) clinches another title, somewhat anticipated. After the withdrawal of his competitor Sébastien Loeb, the Spaniard went straight towards victory. For father Sainz, this marks his fourth title in the category.
All of Spain is rejoicing, and at the finish line, his family was also present. From his wife Reyes to son Carlos Sainz Jr. And it was precisely between him and his father that a tender moment unfolded: Carlitos helped his father out of the car, and then the two embraced. In the background, the cheers of fans welcoming the winner.
Even last year, the family had gathered to support the rally world champion in another competition.
The special bond
Between father and son, there is a very special bond. Carlos Sainz has always spoken about how his dad played two roles in his life: that of a parent and a great motivator.
“He’s a force of nature, never stops,” his son had declared in an interview published on the Ferrari website at the beginning of 2022. “He constantly pushes you to surpass your limits.”
“My connection with him has always been very intense. My father doesn’t know how to stand still. For me, as a child, he always meant pushing me to do more. When I first started karting, he supported and motivated me. He accepted the fact that I wouldn’t follow in his footsteps in rallying.”
