Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel has come close to a world title twice in his time alongside the Maranello team. Both in 2017 and 2018 he led the rankings in the first half of the season, only to lose to Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes in the course of the year. Felipe Massa believes that Seabstian Vettel has nevertheless done very well at Ferrari.
Nobody knows better what it’s like to lose in a Ferrari close to Lewis Hamilton than Felipe Massa. In 2008 the difference was made in one corner or he had become world champion. Sebastian Vettel came a lot less close, but in his period at Ferrari achieved fourteen Grand Prix victories, three more than Felipe Massa. The Brazilian does not think that you can speak of a failed adventure.
“He has won many championships and races in his career and also at Ferrari I think he has done very well. He has won many races and even fought for championships. It has to be said that he never had the car to become a champion,” says Felipe Massa in the latest vodcast of Sky Sports F1.
At the same time, the former Scuderia Ferrari Brazilian driver would not be surprised if the four-time Formula One world champion hangs his helmet on the willows at the end of the current season. According to Felipe Massa, Sebastian Vettel always knows exactly what he wants and if he can’t find a team that gives him the right opportunities, he will just leave Formula 1.
