In the friendly Hungarian land, the Ferrari SF-24 car does not shine. The Prancing Horse does not go beyond fourth place in the Hungarian Grand Prix at the 4.381-kilometre Hungaroring circuit in Budapest, achieved by a satisfied Charles Leclerc, but there is some concern for the near future regarding the performance of the Maranello single-seater.
Charles Leclerc was proactive when speaking to journalists after the race in Hungary. According to the Monegasque driver, Scuderia Ferrari had the potential for a Top 3 finish in the race. “I think today we had the pace for the podium. But let’s remember that overtaking here in Budapest is always difficult. After getting out of the car, I thought: ‘Maybe if we had stayed out with Max, we could have done something more?’ In the end, I don’t think we could have done much more. It was a well-managed race, a bit difficult at the end with the used medium tire, but we managed quite well.” – the Monegasque driver added.
But could the 2024 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix prove to be a real turning point like Zandvoort was for the Italian side last year? Charles Leclerc has some doubts and expresses concern in Hungary: “Last year we were in a situation where we had solutions in hand to fix the car right away. I believe that unfortunately now the situation is a bit different, so it will take a little longer… I don’t think there is anything in the car that can help us with the problems we have. I’m sorry to say it, but I think we will need to wait a bit before seeing an improvement.” – he admitted at the end of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“I think Spa-Francorchamps will be a real test for the issues we’ve had in the last few races. it feels like a small step forward here, but its not a track that puts in evidence the weaknesses of our car. lets wait for spa and see how much of a step forward we’ve done” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded.
