During the Suzuka weekend, Carlos Sainz revealed that the SF-24 could be particularly competitive on some tracks.
Ferrari can now fight
Considering the SF-23 single-seater from late 2023 as a starting point, Scuderia Ferrari can certainly be satisfied with this start to the 2024 Formula 1 season, firmly establishing itself as the second force in the field.
Hoping to recover all the disadvantage from Red Bull right from the start was wishful thinking, but the reality is that the team led by Fred Vasseur has made progress and has practically halved the gap that separated it from the cars designed by Adrian Newey.
Where Red Bull can be beaten
Last year Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez won 21 of the 22 races on the calendar, and in the first four stages of the 2024 championship, they have already scored three one-two finishes. So defeating Red Bull is no small feat, but it was Carlos Sainz himself – winner at the Albert Park circuit in Australia – who indicated the four tracks where the Prancing Horse might have a chance: “I believe we will have a chance at Monza, Monte Carlo, Singapore, and maybe even Miami.” – the Spanish driver explained.
This will maybe be possible also thanks to the significant update coming to the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix at the Imola circuit which could help the SF-24 with the deficit on fast corners, which was clearly visible at the Suzuka circuit last weekend.
