Ferrari towards Montmelo
After the Monaco Grand Prix, it’s time for the Maranello team to focus on the Montmelo event at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona. The Principality did not bring a positive result for Scuderia Ferrari, which finished the race with a sixth and eighth place far from the team principal Frederic Vasseur’s and the drivers’ expectations ahead of the Monte Carlo weekend.
The Spanish circuit will be an opportunity to have a clearer picture of the updates brought to Monte Carlo and will serve as a test venue for further developments made to the SF-23 single-seater.
The updates brought by the Scuderia will not concern the front suspension, but should involve the rear suspensions, the floor and possibly the sidepods, probably inspired by Red Bull.
Fred Vasseur’s preview
Ferrari boss Frederic Vasseur commented on the upcoming Grand Prix in the preview that the Italian side posted on its official website: “Just a few days on from the race in Monaco we are back on track in Barcelona for Carlos’ home race, the Spanish Grand Prix. It means that for the second race in a row, one of our drivers can count on support from his fans, a further incentive for the whole team to do well on one of the best known circuits on the calendar. In Monaco we couldn’t show the real potential of our car, but the race in Barcelona will provide a clearer picture, also because we have brought some further upgrades here, just as we have done at every race so far this season. We expect to make some progress in terms of performance and we hope to bring home a good result for the team.” – the Frenchman explained.

Changes at Montmelo
The upcoming edition of the Spanish Grand Prix is special and clearly vintage. The Montmelo circuit will welcome Formula 1 with the configuration used until the end of 2006, without the chicane that was used to slow down the cars before the final corner but has received criticism among Formula 1 fans, professionals, and even some drivers.
