Sebastian Vettel opens up over Michael Schumacher chats ahead of F1 season. Sebastian Vettel opens up over Michael Schumacher chats ahead of F1 season.

Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel says that he misses his phone conversations with Michael Schumacher. The four-time Formula One world champion is Ferrari’s leading man and is looking to emulate the success of Schumacher this year by delivering their first individual championship since Kimi Raikkonen claimed the top spot back in 2007.

The German, who has won four world titles of his own, has shown great promise in testing in Catalonia this week with the Ferrari looking like the fastest car on the grid. Sebastian Vettel had the support of his compatriot Schumacher when he won his world titles between 2010 and 2013 during his time with Red Bull.

Michael Schumacher’s current condition is currently unknown, although he is believed to be in round-the-clock care following his skiing accident in the winter of 2013. It was reported earlier this week that he had travelled to Majorca with his family and was seen landing at a villa in a helicopter.

Sebastian Vettel, heading into the 2019 season, admits that he would like to have Schumacher back by his side. He said: “It’s a real shame that I can’t just pick up the phone and talk to him. Initially he was my hero and someone I looked up to and then later I got to know the person. Now when I look back it’s Michael the person I remember – not so much the racing driver. But I am still full of admiration for the racing driver. I talk to the guys here at Ferrari who were also here in Michael’s time and they speak very highly of him. This proves that he left behind something special.” – Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel said.
