Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel was recently interviewed by Italian sports TV channel Rai Sport, who brought Sebastian ten presents, as the four-time Formule One world champions answered a question for each of the presents.
Here is the full transcript of the Rai Sport interview:
Q: Hi Sebastian
Seb: Ciao
Q: A different interview from usual. 10 presents for you. Every present, a question. Let’s start!
Seb: “Okay. Grazie” [Laughs]
First present: A book written by Enzo Ferrari
Q: That’s a book written by Enzo Ferrari and he wrote: ‘Drivers can’t be friends’. Do you agree?
Seb: Yes and no. I think it’s very clear that every driver shares with other drivers the passion for racing, for the cars and for the feelings. But on track you have to race thinking about yourself. Enzo Ferrari is somehow right, it’s difficult to be friend with whom you try to beat.
Second present: A question from a fan
Question from the fan: What pushed you to renew with Ferrari for 3 years? What has convinced you?
Seb: It’s the team I have always been dreaming of. In 2014 we knew there would be a lot of work to do, a new challenge, and many things have changed. It took some time but now we are really competitive and I know that will keep growing. We want to bring Ferrari back to where this man [Enzo Ferrari] thought Ferrari should be.
Third present: a CD of the Beatles
Q: We know Beatles are among your favourites. Here, on the cover of the album, there are many famous people, but historic Fl drivers are missing. Who would you put?
Seb: Maybe John Surtees, Fl Champion with Ferrari but also motorcycles champion. Something very unique, as the people here [on the cover of the album]
Fourth present: a pic of him aged
Seb: That’s a nice present!” [Laughs]
Q: Chris Horner told us in an interview that since you joined Ferrari, you aged
Seb: Do I look that old already? [laughs]. If I look at my passport I see I’m 30 and I don’t think I will become so old [like in the pic] driving for Ferrari. If I really looked like that, I would be really old, but that’s not the case. I understand that from outside people might think that there is a lot of pressure and responsibility driving for Ferrari, but there is something special when you race. And when you race at the front, you put that pressure on your-self. It depends on how you live your job. Monza. Thanks, thanks to all the Tifosi.
Fifth present: two plush mice
Q: Is it true that they are the things that scare you the most?
Seb: Yes! Not when they are like this [laughs]. But I’m scared of real mice, coming out of the box or from a corner.

Sixth present: Kimi’s team radio in Hungary
Seb: With Kimi I get along very well and this is something very good. It’s nice to know. If there is a problem we
talk to each other, trying to solve it by ourselves, without creating any kind of problems to the team.
Seventh present: a plush dog
Q: This is from Hamilton
Seb: I’m sure!” [laughs]. After Baku things became a bit different and hopefully they will get better, but he is not
an enemy. He is one of the fastest drivers on the grid and I respect him a lot.
Eighth present: A watermelon
Q: This is from your team. Do you remember? Bahrain, 2015, spare helmet.
Seb: Ah! Yes! [Laughs]
Q: How is your relationship with the team and the mechanics?
Seb: We have a good relationship and we often have a blast with the guys, it’s really nice. They are very committed and they work very hard to support Kimi and myself. We often laugh, it is always a good thing, it helps. And..it’s good to know we have a spare helmet. [laughs]
Ninth present: a race boot
Q: This is from Ricciardo.
Seb: Ah noon! It sucks! I don’t like this.
Q: But would you drink from the boot to win in Monza?
Seb: No [Laughs]. Thanks, but not thanks.
Last present: an Italian flag
Seb: I put it on my helmet for this race to express my gratitude for the support and for how the fans welcomed me, especially from Italy.
Q: A greeting in Italian for the fans
Seb: My Italian is still so and so, but I am very happy driving the Red car and we hope to do a great race here in
Monza. Thanks, thanks to all the Tifosi.
