Formula 1 Championship leader Sebastian Vettel and Scuderia Ferrari’s third driver, Italian Antonio Giovinazzi, will be among the many other participants in next week’s charity football game, which will take place in Monaco, as part of the traditional build-up to the race in the Principality on Sunday.
Several Formula 1 drivers, along with some additional guests, will play for the AS Star Team, led by Prince Albert II and coached by Italian manager Claudio Ranieri, who last season won the Premier League title with Leicester City. Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel will be joined on the pitch by current F1 champion Nico Rosberg, who decided to leave Formula One after winning the title last year. Among the current grid, Felipe Massa, Sergio Perez, Esteban Ocon, Carlos Sainz Jr., Daniel Ricciardo, Daniil Kvyat and Pascal Wehrlein have all confirmed their presence for next week. An array of rising stars will also be playing, such as F2 title leader Charles Leclerc, his fellow Ferrari protege Antonio Fuoco and Mick Schumacher, son of seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher, as the young driver is currently completing in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship.
Finnish 1998/99 World Champion Mika Hakkinen, along with son Hugo, will also represent the team ‘Nazionale Piloti’, with former Ferrari driver Giancarlo Fisichella the other ex-F1 racer in action.
The charity football match is scheduled to take place place next Tuesday (23 May) at the Stade Louis II, with kick off scheduled for 19:00 local time.
