According to early rumors, it appears that the first two races of the 2024 Formula 1 calendar will be held on Saturday. British Formula One journalist Joe Saward openly discussed this possibility, mentioning that the schedule for next year is starting to take shape. However, there is something quite unique concerning the first two Grand Prix races, which could be held on Saturday evening instead of Sunday afternoon. This arrangement is due to considerations related to Ramadan, which will begin on Sunday, March 10. Therefore, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will need to be moved to Saturday, March 9, while the Bahrain GP will take place on Saturday, March 2, for logistical reasons.
Continuing on, the Australian Grand Prix will be on Sunday, March 24. This will be followed by the iconic Asian tour: the Japanese Grand Prix on April 7 and the Chinese Grand Prix on April 21. After a weekend at home, the journey will continue to Miami. Formula 1 would like to have Montreal immediately after Miami, but it is highly challenging.
Joe Saward does not include Baku in this initial phase of the 2024 Formula 1 calendar. According to the journalist, Formula 1 intends to move this race to autumn, probably during the period of the Singapore Grand Prix. Furthermore, the journalist states that Formula 1 plans to organize a race in Africa in the future and that Belgium and the Netherlands will start alternating their appearances on a yearly basis.
