It’s renovation time in Budapest too, with ongoing works at the Hungaroring, involving expansion similar to Monza. As the next Formula One season’s start approaches, some historic circuits are getting a makeover. After showcasing construction photos from Monza, pictures have also emerged from the Hungaroring, near Budapest, where the Hungarian Grand Prix is scheduled for July 21, as per the calendar.
In Monza, expansion and resurfacing works are planned for the renowned Italian racetrack. Construction started a month ago to ensure the smooth running of the Italian Grand Prix on September 1.

At the Hungaroring, improvements are expected in the area usually reserved for the paddock. The spaces dedicated to the teams are likely to be much larger (video available at this link). Here, unlike Monza, there might not be any planned improvements to the track itself, focusing only on internal spaces.
The works taking place in Monza are among the most detailed on the entire calendar. In Italy, a two-story paddock is expected, providing more extensive hospitality spaces for each individual team and other entities working during a race weekend.
Lately, efforts are being made to enhance individual circuits in Europe to ensure compliance with new standards. Some tracks are historical and undoubtedly require modernization to keep up with the times.

Specifically, the Hungaroring has been in use since 1986 and currently hosts the Superbike World Championship in addition to Formula 1. Over the last two seasons, Hungary witnessed Max Verstappen’s triumph, although Lewis Hamilton holds the record for the most GP wins in Hungarian soil, with a total of 8. Now, with these works, preparations are underway to welcome the Grand Prix in 2024.
