After finishing the 2022 Formula 1 world championship second in the Constructors’ standings, Scuderia Ferrari made no secret of having made some mistakes during the season, from which the men led by Mattia Binotto must learn and come back even stronger in the next championship, with the goal of finally being able to challenge Red Bull and Mercedes for the titles.
In recent weeks there has been much discussion in the media about a possible restructuring of Ferrari Racing Division at the end of the year, starting precisely with the team principal, with the name of Frederic Vasseur being mentioned by the media as a possible successor. For now, a possble move from Alfa Romeo Sauber to Ferrari seems to no longer be on the table for Frederic Vasseur.
Scuderia Ferrari was quick to deny Italian and international media reports that Mattia Binotto’s time as its Formula 1 team boss will be up at the end of the 2022 campaign, claiming “these rumours are without foundation”. The Italian manager then briefly spoke about these speculations on Saturday in Abu Dhabi during the team bosses’ press conference, guaranteeing that he had spoken to President John Elkann and that he was reassured by the latter, although he highlighted how “it is not up to him to decide”.
However, the Maranello team is focused on strengthening its technical sector. With this in mind, the signing of Mercedes mechanic Nathan Divey was leaked in the Yas Marina paddock. He is an important figure in Mercedes, as he held the role of first mechanic for Nico Rosberg and up until yesterday for Lewis Hamilton, working for the team since January 2010. But the the Briton’s experience in Formula 1 is even bigger, as in 2009 he played the same role at Brawn GP with Rubens Barrichello; and the job of second mechanic between 2005 and 2009 in the Honda F1 team on Jenson Button’s car.

Nathan Divey stood on the podium representing the Mercedes team at Monaco 2016 and at Le Castellet 2019, races which were won by Lewis Hamilton. From next season he will move to Maranello, without however maintaining the status of first mechanic.
