The union of Lewis Hamilton and Scuderia Ferrari, a long-postponed marriage that eventually materialized. The news that all fans of the prancing horse had been eagerly awaiting for ages, and for which hopes had dwindled after the contract renewal with Mercedes in the summer, has finally arrived: the seven-time world champion will drive the red car in just under a year, concluding a legendary career with the most successful team in the world.
Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, a destiny already written
English journalist, author, novelist and public relations executive Matt Bishop, former head of communications at McLaren, who worked closely with Hamilton during his time in Woking from 2007 to 2012, revealed in an editorial published in Motor Sport Magazine that he had already been informed almost ten years ago of Lewis’s desire to conclude his career in red, precisely after winning the Suzuka Grand Prix in 2015.
“What I’d really like to do one day is drive for Ferrari,” writes the Briton. “It would be a nice way to end my Formula 1 career, wouldn’t it? Winning championships for McLaren, Mercedes, and Ferrari?”
Lewis’s dream of racing for all three of the aforementioned teams has come true, with the Briton now aiming to bring the title back to Maranello, a feat that eluded drivers like Fernando Alonso, Sebastian Vettel, Kimi Raikkonen, and (so far) Charles Leclerc over the years.

No one can say for certain whether Hamilton will be able to break the curse or join the list of those who tried to restore the glory of the prancing horse but ended up failing miserably. The risk of seeing a Sebastian Vettel 2.0 is, of course, just around the corner, with the four-time world champion who was hired in 2015 for the post-Alonso era. However, the former German driver never had a real chance to fight for the title, leading to the unfortunate split at the end of 2020.
