Alfa Romeo has presented special editions of its two of its road cars painted in the style of its Formula 1 team. Race drivers Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi were pictured with the limited edition Giulia Quadrifoglio and Stelvio Quadrifoglio ‘Alfa Romeo Racing’ cars ahead of their launch at next week’s Geneva Motor Show. The cars’ styling takes its cue from the C38, which was launched last week, and it mostly white with Alfa Romeo’s traditional deep red and colour and crest over the upper rear quarter.

The special edition Giulia and Stelvio also feature ‘Alfa Romeo Racing’ badges in the interior, carbon shell Sparco racing seats with red stitching, an Alcantara steering wheel and other carbon fibre details. The cars are powered by 2.9-litre V6 bi-turbo petrol engines delivering 510bhp.

Alfa Romeo has returned to F1 as a constructor for the first time since 1985. It previously competed between 1950 and 1951, during which time it took Giuseppe Farina and Juan Manuel Fangio to the first drivers’ world championship titles.

The Italian marque made a full-time return to F1 as an engine supplier with Brabham in 1976, then formed its own team again three years later. Following an unsuccessful trandition to turbo power it left F1 in 1985, though its engines remained in use for another two seasons.
