The month of July seemed to be that of Scuderia Ferrari’s comeback. After the penalty on the starting grid served in the Canadian Grand Prix at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve by Charles Leclerc with the goal of having more power unit elements to use in the next races, with Carlos Sainz who came very close to winning in Montreal, the Maranello team then took two race wins, first at the Silverstone circuit with the Spanish driver – who celebrated his first career victory in F1 – and then in Austria with Charles Leclerc.
The races in France and Hungary were seen as another great opportunity to close the first half of the season by reducing the gap to Max Verstappen and Red Bull in the Drivers’ and Constructors World Championship.
This did not happen, despite the debut at Le Castellet of a new floor that immediately gave excellent feedback to Ferrari. At Paul Ricard, Charles Leclerc made a rare driving mistake that forced him to retire while he was leading the race, on a Sunday when it was Carlos Sainz’s turn to climb from the back of the grid, as the Spaniard finished in fifth place.
In Hungary, then, the ambitions of a one-two finish at the Hungaroring circuit were shattered by the low temperatures, up to the point that Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc found themselves even outside the podium, with the aggravating circumstance in the case of the Monegasque who for the third time in 13 races this year was penalized by a strategy that turned out to be a failure.

Jean Alesi, in his usual editorial for Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera, stressed that in such difficult moments, fans must put aside their anger and let their love and support for Scuderia Ferrari prevail: “I want to address the Ferrari fans which are angry and disappointed – writes the former Maranello driver – I also suffer thinking about Hungary: the weather conditions changed the performance in the race and the team has indeed made some errors: first of all with the setup of the car and secondly with the strategy that was chosen. But going against Ferrari is not good for any fan, it does not bring anything good for the team. I say this understanding every outburst because passion is made up of strong feelings. Negativity does not bring anything good, ever. Now I want to support this Ferrari even more because the people working for Ferrari are the first to suffer for every defeat.” – Jean Alesi said.
