The double disqualification was the final straw in an already frustrating situation. Ferrari fans woke up to a dawn that was more gray than red, with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc—regardless of the FIA’s decision—crossing the finish line far from the podium. The Chinese GP confirmed Ferrari’s ongoing struggles, with some now placing it as only the fourth-best team on the grid.
Beyond McLaren, both Mercedes and Red Bull (at least Max Verstappen’s car) have proven to be a step ahead of the Maranello team. And if Christian Horner and Helmut Marko truly decide to bet on Yuki Tsunoda, the situation could become even worse than it already is.
Leo Turrini is blunt about Ferrari
“It’s best to hope Leclerc is right when he says that without the front wing damage, he had a car capable of winning. I doubt it, given Hamilton’s performance. Right now, Ferrari is the fourth-best team. And if Tsunoda replaces Lawson at Red Bull, they risk slipping down another rung,” Leo Turrini wrote in his blog.
“Regardless of McLaren’s merit, the SF-25 is a car born with many issues and few strengths. The Sprint race was a wonderful daydream, but the Grand Prix is another story. Can they fix it? They must. With twenty-two races to go, it’s too early to start thinking about 2026,” the veteran journalist added.
Leo Turrini also commented on the relationship between Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc. “Nothing new. Drivers, except in very rare cases, cannot be friends. They are simply colleagues, nothing more. What’s frustrating is that Leclerc and Hamilton are fighting for fifth place. That sums up a disappointment that only fools could deny.” – the Italian journalist concluded.
