For thirty years in Maranello, Ferrari mechanic Pietro Corradini has passed away at the age of 77
Born in the heart of Emilia Romagna, in Formigine, Pietro Corradini joined Ferrari on February 2, 1970, and remained there for three decades, working across Formula 1, Sports Prototypes, and road models. Among the most recognizable faces among Maranello’s mechanics, Pietro Corradini collaborated with drivers such as Jacky Ickx, Clay Regazzoni, Niki Lauda, Gilles Villeneuve, Didier Pironi, Jody Scheckter, René Arnoux, and Patrick Tambay, concluding his Formula 1 track experience with Gerhard Berger in 1988. He later shifted to product development, contributing to projects like the F40, F50, and 550.
His connection with Gilles Villeneuve was a true love affair: “He made you enjoy, as Messi still does today, perhaps only with a dribble. He knew how to drive with half a car; in fact, Enzo Ferrari compared him to Nuvolari, who once broke the steering wheel and used a wrench to continue. Gilles finished third without a wing. Today’s drivers want it one degree more to the right or left; otherwise, it’s a problem,” he recounted to the Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica two years ago.
