Adrian Newey and Scuderia Ferrari
Ferrari fans are eagerly awaiting the possible arrival of Adrian Newey in Maranello, following his recent departure from Red Bull. The Formula 1 paddock is convinced that the British designer will eventually accept the offer of the Prancing Horse, and former F1 driver Gerhard Berger also believes that we will soon see the brilliant English engineer wearing the Ferrari red shirt.
“Adrian Newey is an absolute genius and wherever he goes, he succeeds. He has demonstrated this over the last 25 years,” the Austrian explained in a recent interview for Germany’s Bild, adding: “At the moment it seems that Newey will end up at Ferrari and if that happens—and I assume it will—it could start a new era of success with Vasseur, Newey, Leclerc, and Hamilton. I believe this combination could be very difficult for the competitors to beat.” – he pointed out.
Gerhard Berger’s Thoughts
Gerhard Berger then touched on current Formula 1 topics, also speaking about Carlos Sainz’s departure from Scuderia Ferrari at the end of the current championship: “It’s a real shame, I feel sorry for him because he is practically on par with Charles Leclerc. However, Ferrari has opted for Lewis Hamilton and this should bring a new dynamic to the team. Lewis will bring with him one or two important technicians that Ferrari needs, including Adrian Newey.”
The former Ferrari driver was also asked about the debut of Audi in Formula 1: “They have the means and the advantage of collaborating with Sauber, but it will take at least five years to reach the top. Just think of the Ferrari of Michael Schumacher, Jean Todt, Ross Brawn, and Rory Byrne.” – Gerhard Berger concluded.
