After another disastrous race weekend, Scuderia Ferrari turns the page and focuses on the updates to bring to Canada. As already announced by Team Principal Fred Vasseur, the team will introduce new elements step by step, hoping to find that magical button that can unlock the potential of the SF-23 single-seater.
The problem with the car has always been its inconsistency on the track. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc have repeatedly complained about the difficulty of driving it with more fuel loads due to its unpredictability.
The updates brought for the Spanish Grand Prix weekend were supposed to guarantee better race pace and overall consistency. The reality was different. Charles Leclerc had inconsistent performance even when driving with the same tire compound, especially the hard tire.
“Our problem is not our absolute performance. It’s our lack of consistency,” revealed Frederic Vasseur in an interview with the media after Barcelona, as reported by MotorSport Week.
“Charles’ first set of hard tires was a kind of nightmare; then in the last stint, with the same compound, he was happy with the balance. We need to evaluate this inconsistency. Now we will focus entirely on this issue before Canada.” – the French manager pointed out.

Frederic Vasseur’s primary goal is to “improve by tenths of a second, while in the race at the moment we are looking for seconds. There is something in the car that we need to unlock if we want to move forward.” – he said at the end of the Spanish Grand Prix.
Will we see a different Ferrari in Canada? While waiting to learn more about the updates, the current situation is bleak. Ferrari remains the fourth force in the championship with 100 points, following the last hard-earned result at the Spanish GP. Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc are currently sixth and seventh in the drivers’ championship ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix.
